Dollar Tree Finds Buyer for 330 Family Dollar Stores


family dollar clearanceAs Dollar Tree Inc. inches toward the closing of its acquisition of Family Dollar Stores Inc., a buyer has emerged for a package of 330 stores to be divested in a bid to satisfy antitrust regulators.

Sycamore Partners, a private-equity firm focusing on consumer and retail investments, will buy the 330 Family Dollar stores upon the closing of the discount retailers’ merger, according to a statement issued late Friday. Together, the stores represent roughly $45.5 million in operating revenue for Matthews-based Family Dollar.

Financial details and locations of the stores were not disclosed.

Sycamore plans to operate the stores under its Dollar Express banner.
