Columbia’s Keenan Building Sold

The Keenan Building at Sumter and Lady streets has been sold to a partnership that plans to repurpose the structure into a mixed-used facility that includes apartments, retail space and offices.

The building is a 121,682-square-foot multitenant office building in Columbia’s central business district at 1310 Lady St. The building’s anchor tenant is Merrill Lynch.

The partnership — Patel, Lewis, Pournaras LLC — includes local hotelier Rick Patel; Robert B. Lewis, of Columbia; and brothers Nick and Bill Pournaras. The owners have extensive experience in historic preservation and development.

Patel is president of Sejwad Hotels and owner of the Sheraton Columbia Downtown Hotel, 1400 Main St., and Sheraton Convention Center, located across the street at 1208 Washington St.
