Easley Retail Market Expanding

Already the home of the Big League World Series, Easley is hoping to keep scoring big on retail with more than half a dozen big-box stores under construction or opened in the past 18 months. Call it the Big Easley.

It began about seven years ago when developers began working to get the infrastructure in place at what would become the Easley Town Center, at U.S. 123 and S.C. 153. Easley will have more than 500,000 square feet of shopping and restaurants by the end of 2013, said developer David Scarnati.

Before the new center began racking up a series of home runs for Easley, the city was already strong on retail with about 39 percent of the Pickens County-wide retail business, and its share has only increased, said Cindy Hopkins, president of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce.
