Columbia’s Arcadia Edge Wins Award

Arcadia’s Edge, Columbia’s first certified green apartment community, was honored with a Silver Best New Development Award by Multi-Housing News (MHN) at their annual national awards celebration in New York City. The MHN Excellence Awards recognizes the multifamily industry’s most noteworthy people, companies and projects nationally. This is the second national recognition for Arcadia’s Edge. Earlier this year, it was one of the first apartment communities in the nation to achieve Silver Certification through the National Green Building Standard by the National Association of Homebuilders.

Nestled around Roper Pond and wetlands, Arcadia’s Edge is designed to minimize the impact on the ecosystem. Wetland Carpets, Floating Wetlands, Baysavers and natural irrigation preserve and enhance the environment while sustainable landscaping helps attract wildlife. All of the 204 homes feature over-sized windows and natural materials, such as plank hardwood flooring, granite countertops and ceramic tile flooring. Sustainable features include highly efficient windows and insulation, Energy-Star certified lights and appliances, and low-flow water fixtures.

To select this year’s winners, the MHN judges looked at a number of criteria including design concept, financial performance, customer service and resident satisfaction.
