New Subdivision Coming to West Columbia

Mungo Homes announced Monday it plans to build a community of single-family homes in West Columbia near Lexington Medical Center.

The Columbia-based homebuilder recently closed on the purchase of 14.5 acres of land on Hook Avenue near U.S. 378 and Interstate 26. The $420,000 sale was brokered by NAI Avant’s Ben Kelly and Patrick Chambers, who represented the seller.

Clearing of the land could begin in the next two weeks, said Kim O’Quinn, Mungo’s marketing director. Plans call for 73 to 88 homes to be built in the community, which will be called Brookland Mill, O’Quinn said.

The homes will range from 1,400 to 2,000 square feet and will be priced in the mid-$100,000s range.
