Whole Foods Coming to Columbia

Columbia will get its first Whole Foods next year as Edens & Avant tries to breathe new life into a long-defunct shopping center on Devine Street.

The sought-after organic grocer will anchor Cross Hill Market, a new 74,000-square-foot, $23 million development at the former Kroger at the intersection of Cross Hill Road and Devine Street.

Whole Foods, which has stores in Greenville and Charleston, will occupy about 38,000 square feet of the shopping center, developers announced this morning. The rest of the center will feature a dozen or more shops and restaurants. And a new walkway will connect the center to nearby neighborhoods.
