The forecast for commercial real estate in the Midlands in 2011 is more of the same.

Columbia-area commercial real estate executives gathered for a Thursday luncheon were told that markets likely won’t get much worse in the coming year; but, they probably aren’t going to get a whole lot better, either.

“The theme for 2011? Stay alive,” said Kevin Werner, partner and director of commercial development for the Miller-Valentine Group office in Columbia. “Things are going to remain very challenging.”

Added Keith Postal, broker with CB Richard Ellis Land Services Group: “Everyone is looking to 2012.”
