Charleston-Area Home Sales Fall, Median Price Rises In September

By
– Charleston Regional Business Journal

The volume of Charleston-area home sales dropped 5% during September compared to the same month last year, while the median sales price rose 9%, the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors reported today.

The median price for the 659 homes sold in the tri-county area was $188,840, the group said in its monthly report.

While that price is up 9% from September 2009, it’s down 5% from the preceding month, August 2010.

Sept. 30 marked the closing deadline for homes that qualified for federal homebuyer tax credits and were under contract by April 30. Originally that deadline was June 30, but Congress extended it because of delays buyers faced in closing.
