Residents’ Worries, Developer’s Dreams Come Together for Blythewood Project

Concerns have been percolating in the Blythewood community for weeks that a proposed development about which little is known might bring traffic gridlock, sex shops and other woes.

People also wonder about the financial state of developer South Capital Group, which has been in U.S. Bankruptcy Court under a Chapter 11 proceeding for more than a year.

But in an exclusive interview with The State, developer David Hilburn says not to worry. He’s about to announce a major $80 million project for the Red Gate Farms tract off I-77 that definitely doesn’t include sex shops or major traffic woes.
