Greenville, SC Auditorium Site Still Vacant 13 Years after Demolition

The vacant lot where Memorial Auditorium used to be is one of the first things drivers encounter when they arrive in downtown Greenville via Interstate 385.

For that reason, city officials dubbed the 1.8-acre property the “gateway to Greenville” and spent a decade encouraging developers to build something special on it.

Nearly 13 years after the razing of the old auditorium, however, the property remains nothing more than a patch of ground fenced by plywood between Beattie Place and Church and East North streets.
