Bluffton, Developer Agree To Continue Work on Project East Plan

Bluffton town council members voted four to one Tuesday to sign an agreement with Ohio development company Chippewa Partners LLC to research plans for Project East — a project officials say could create over 800 local jobs and include a culinary school, an indoor amusement park, restaurants, hotels and shops.

Mayor Pro Tem Fred Hamilton voted against the memorandum of understanding, which outlines how Project East might proceed. The memorandum estimates the project would create annual net profits of over $8 million for the town and generate an estimated $771,000 in accommodation tax revenues.
