Construction Industry Stabilized, But No Recovery in Sight

For the second quarter of 2009, the Carolinas AGC Construction Barometer dropped slightly, by 1.1%.

It’s likely the region has bottomed out in the economic recession, but it seems to be riding along the bottom of the business cycle with little forward momentum, according to the report by Carolinas AGC, a chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.

But data indicated there was virtually no significant sign of real recovery yet; it will be at least mid-2010 before the construction industry attains sustainable momentum, the report said.
