Upstate Groups Planning Neighborhood for Elderly, Low-Income

The Greenville County Redevelopment Authority, Upstate Homeless Coalition and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development are working together to build a neighborhood for the elderly and modest-income families, agency officials this week told City Council.

Once the site of a 14-acre mobile home park, the Creekside development is on Biblebrook Drive between West Poinsett and Memorial Drive near the Sunnyside district. It is supposed to include 36 one-bedroom units for the elderly in 18 duplexes and 36 single-family homes, a community center and central laundry facility, GCRA executive director Martin Livingston said.
