SCANA to Begin Vacating Downtown Office Space

Before downtown Columbia wakes up Tuesday, workers will be filing out of SCANA Corp.’s Main Street headquarters, carrying boxes, crates and computers to load into waiting trucks.

By 10 a.m., dozens of SCANA employees will be at their desks at the utility’s new $235 million campus — across the Congaree River in Cayce — to start another business day.

So it will go as the state’s only Fortune 500 company pulls up its roots from downtown, where it has had a presence for 80 years.
