Bluffton to Continue to Honor Development Agreement with Palmetto Bluff

The development agreement for Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton will remain in effect, even though the developer of the 20,000-acre tract filed for bankruptcy protection.

By filing for bankruptcy and announcing plans to restructure in June, Crescent Resources of Charlotte defaulted on a portion of the development agreement that a previous owner reached with the town in 1998 for the tract, which is south of the May River and has its entrance off S.C. 46.

The town agreed last month to waive that default and preserve the development agreement, town attorney Terry Finger said.
