Richland Assessment Appeals Due By Friday

By

– The State

Friday is the deadline for Richland County property owners to appeal the values that will be used to determine their tax bills later this year.

As of Tuesday evening, 4,436 appeals had been lodged, said deputy assessor Liz McDonald — fewer than half the 10,000 protests in 2004.

This is the first reassessment in Richland County since the state imposed a 15 percent limit on increases in value. Under state law, counties reassess properties every five years.
