Charleston Apartment Vacancy Rate Spikes to 15%

Apartment vacancy rates in the Charleston area have reached their highest level in at least 10 years, according to one market research firm.

Apartment complexes averaged a 15% vacancy rate as of February, a semiannual report from Charlotte-based Real Data found. The area has not seen vacancies that high in the decade’s worth of data included in the report.

In August, the local vacancy rate was 10%.
