Greenville Makes List of Weak Retail Markets

Looking for a good deal to buy a shopping center or other retail asset at a reduced price? There are plenty of choices around the country these days.

Walter Bialas, vice president of research at Washington, DC-based Madison Marquette, has compiled a list of the 63 weakest retail markets in the United States.

“Based on our indexing, the top 35 metropolitan markets (on the list below) are fertile ground for distressed assets,” Bialas says. “The remaining markets, although stressed, are less likely to break under the weight of recession.”

In fact, Greenville is the only market in South Carolina that they cover in detail. This analysis should not be interpreted to mean that Greenville has the worst retail market in South Carolina……
