Coligny Redevelopment Plans Move On Despite Economy

Even the bad economy won’t stop the face-lift of Hilton Head Island’s signature beach park.

Construction of a new entrance at Coligny — one that includes a ground-level fountain for children to play in — is expected to begin soon and be finished by Memorial Day.

The $1.43 million project is designed to remove obstacles that prevent motorists from seeing the ocean as they go around Coligny Circle.

The project includes new bathroom buildings, small changing rooms, shaded picnic shelters, wider paths, elevated seating with swings, and the centerpiece: a fountain with 26 choreographed water jets.
