Summerville Center Site Struggles with Economy

Garbage has piled up on the back side of Heritage Square, where graffiti artists have taken over the back walls of the buildings.
Immense patches of rust are laying claim to the large sign that lets motorists know they are passing by the Heritage Square shopping center.

While much of the country is coping with a struggling economy, this 14-acre plot of land has been living in an economic downturn for the better part of 10 years.

Heritage Square is one of the most visible parts of Summerville, sitting at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 78 and the Berlin G. Myers Parkway, one of the two busiest intersections in the town.
