Greenville Mayor Knox White said 2009 will be a year of “proactive planning” for ways to redevelop an area along the Reedy River that could include a new 200-acre park.

“If we created a green space park and work on it for the next 20 years, the property on the edge of this park – just like the property around the baseball stadium and the property on the edge of Falls Park – will greatly increase in value,” White said. “It will be a great opportunity for office development, new condominiums, apartments and those kind of things.”

White spoke Thursday morning at the One Liberty Square building in downtown Greenville, an event sponsored by The Commerce Club and Golden Career Strategies.
