Charleston Hotel Occupancy Rates Fell In November

Hotels in Charleston County were about 60% occupied in November, a decline of 8.6% when compared to November 2007 rates, according to a report from the College of Charleston’s Office of Tourism Analysis.

November’s 8.6% year-to-year decline in hotel occupancy, an indicator of tourism activity, followed two months of double-digit declines.

In September, the countywide occupancy rate was 63.7%, which was down 12.8% from the prior year. In October, hotels were busier with 69.5% occupancy, but that was down 11% from the same month in 2007.
