Former Hitachi Plant Sold For Conversion

GSA Daily Staff Report

Weston Inc, an Ohio-based commercial real estate company, purchased a 549,000-square-foot industrial facility located at I-85 and Maudlin Road in Greenville, recently renamed to Greenville Commerce Center.

The facility, a former Hitachi manufacturing plant, will be able to accommodate warehousing and manufacturing tenants in need of 50,000-500,000 square feet once renovations are complete. Grice Hunt and Ford Borders, both of NAI Earle Furman LLC, represented Weston in this purchase.

A complete re-design of this facility is currently underway to allow for multi-tenant use. The building will be opened up to provide spacious floor plans and high ceiling clear heights. An upgrade of all utilities and mechanicals will be completed to better service multiple tenants. Additionally, a portion of the building will be demolished to allow for better access.

All renovations are expected to be complete within 90 days.

Weston owns and manages a real estate portfolio of more than 12 million square feet in 10 states. They manage each of these industrial properties, and maintain relationships with 450 tenants. In the past year, Weston has purchased over 1 million square feet of industrial space in the Upstate.
