North Myrtle Beach Gains 1,300 Acres

OK’d project to add homes, marina, shops

The North Myrtle Beach City Council expanded the city’s borders by 1,300 acres Monday with the final approval of a plan that also would bring in thousands of houses, shops and a marina.

The council voted 6-0 for the for the project called the Parkway Group Planned Unit Development. Councilman Terry White was absent.

The expansion for the project, which includes multifamily homes, single-family homes, commercial space and a marina, would stretch from the southeast corner of the intersection of S.C. 31 and S.C. 22. It also would extend to the Intracoastal Waterway and border the Grande Dunes neighborhood in Myrtle Beach.
