Pendleton Station Is Gone, but the Villages Are Born

A drive along Westinghouse or Lebanon roads on the edge of Pendleton reveals what appears to be a new development of townhouses, clean looking with beautiful colors.

It’s not new. It’s a development with a checkered four-year history, from good to bad to worse, and now back to good. It’s a development where the only residents have been squirrels, rabbits and raccoons.

The Villages at Town Creek was once called Pendleton Station. The 138-acre development was home to lawsuits, hidden bedrooms and resident complaints. With contractor Apex Homes Inc. of Myrtle Beach and Charlotte, N.C., now on site, there is a new look based on old designs.

“We’re taking a really bad situation and making the best of it,” Pendleton Mayor Carol Burdette said. “It has been such a negative for the town. We want it to be a positive. We want it to work. They want it to work.”

“They” are current development owner Enterprise Bank along with Apex Homes, a company whose specialty is distressed properties.
