Greenville Real Estate Experts Say It’s a ‘Buyers Market’

Lower interest rates, stabilizing home prices favor house hunters

If you question whether now is a good time to buy a house, real estate experts say that recent events are helping shape a classic buyers market.

Corwyn Melette, a realtor and manager of the first-time homebuyers program for Family Services Inc., says smart buyers are buying now.

He said that with this week’s diving interest rates and stabilizing home prices, there is “more flexibility in the transaction because the sellers are more cooperative.”

Nick Sabatine, executive director of the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors, describes today’s market as “a buyers market,” with a wide variety houses available.

As of August 10, there were 7,000 properties available through the Greenville County Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
