New jobs could be on the horizon for Greer if private developers succeed with a proposed international business park of at least 236 acres across from the BMW Performance Center off State 101, officials say.

Reno Deaton, executive director of Greer Development Corporation, said the park could generate up to 1 million square feet of space.

He said he couldn’t discuss prospects, nor could he estimate the number of jobs that might be created at the park.

Wryley Bettis, Greer Development Corporation board chairman and mayor pro tem, said, “It’s another good opportunity to attract jobs and investment.”

Business is looking more toward a global economy these days, according to Dr. Kailash Khandke, professor of economics at Furman University.
