Lodging Statistics for Columbia and Greenville Compiled


An analysis of the year to date figures from Smith Travel Research shows that Columbia and Greenville hotels experienced increases in average room rates in the first quarter as compared to the first quarter 2007. Columbia saw an average room rate increase of 6.1%, while the Greenville average room rate grew by 5.1%. The hotel occupancy rate in Columbia dropped 2.4% to 61.7%, primarily due to an increase in total number of rooms of 5.9%. With a minimal increase in total roooms of 1.9%, Greenville’s occupancy remained the same at 57.4%.
