Some new businesses are coming to the Best Buy shopping center on U.S. 278 in greater Bluffton. But information on what those businesses will be isn’t being released yet.

The center’s developers, Atlanta-based Stafford Properties, have started construction on a 10,000-square-foot building south and east of the Petco on the property.

Stafford CEO Rece Morgan said he couldn’t talk about what businesses eventually will fill the partially built building. Announcements on those, as well as other center tenants, should come in the next few weeks, he said.

The center did gain another shopping option for Lowcountry spenders when a

10,000-square-foot Dollar Tree store opened Thursday morning.

A Best Buy, which opened in October, anchors the center. Petco, the second largest store in the center, opened in February. A Carolina First Bank branch opened in January.

The Best Buy and Petco stores represent those companies’ first movement into southern Beaufort County. Dollar Tree has a store on Hilton Head Island.

Carolina First Bank has two branches on Hilton Head and recently opened a branch at Berkeley Place on Buckwalter Parkway. It also has plans for one more mainland location near University of South Carolina Beaufort.

The center will span roughly 100,000 square feet. Additionally, a 50,000-square-foot office park will be built behind the center, but that won’t be completed until the fall.

The shopping center is east of S.C. 46 and next to The Crescent.
